UTEC and CEPLAN sign agreement to boost research in science, technology and innovation

Seeking to design and develop joint projects in research, education and specialization in science, technology and innovation, Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Centro Nacional de Planeamiento Estratégico (CEPLAN)[Center for National Strategic Planning], a public agency attached to the Office of the President of the Council of Ministers.

Once the agreement is signed both parties will cooperate in the design of courses, conferences, symposia, forums and academic programs for the benefit of UTEC students and teachers as well as CEPLAN employees. Moreover, the agreement enables us to promote implementation of new research projects and exchange academic and scientific material.  It is worth noting that Ruben Esquives, Executive Director of CEPLAN, is a UTEC professor.

It is important to indicate that the first event organized under this agreement, is a recent forum entitled: “The energy industry in Peru: a long term perspective”, taking place on the UTEC campus. Among the guest speakers attending the event were Raul Perez Reyes, Vice Minister of Energy of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) and Pedro Gamio Aita, international consultant and former vice-minister of energy, who gave presentations about the advances in long term planning for the domestic energy industry; and, the trends and disruptive developments occurring in the global energy industry.  Also attending were CEPLAN President, Victor Vargas Espejo and Julien Noel, UTEC Academic Program Director in Energy Engineering.
