Ellen Baker, American astronaut visited our country to share her work experience at NASA Space Agency with young students from Lima and provinces. As part of its activities and with the goal of offering students a real approach to science and technology, Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC) together with the American Embassy made possible for the astronaut to give a lecture to students of the FAP - Peruvian Air Force High School Jose Quinones, and to undergraduate students of UTEC.At the lecture to UTEC students, she shared subjects such as her experience in outer space and gave details on the conditions and requirements that an astronaut needs to go though so he or she can suitably fulfill such a demanding job. She also showed them images of satellites, galaxies, star constellations, among other visuals. Finally, she gave a round of questions and answers for the students.Baker was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She majored iin Geology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She earned her PhD in medicine from the University of Cornell and a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. In 1981, after completing her medical internship, Dr. Baker joined NASA as a medical doctor and worked at the Johnson Space Center.
