UTEC sponsors Eduardo “Tato” Heinrich who will compete in the 2013 edition of the Dakar Rally

Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) joins the sponsors of the talented Peruvian motorcyclist, Eduardo “Tato” Heinrich, who will compete in the 2013 edition of the Dakar Rally that starts on Monday January 5th. In this, his second Dakar race, he will form part of the Honda Racing Peru team and will compete wearing N° 66. “I have shown up for this race more confident and prepared this year. My goal in this 2013 edition of Dakar is to reach the finish line in Santiago de Chile in a better place than last year. I know it’s a big challenge but I am sure that I will get it done. On the other hand, I am very happy and motivated by the backing that my sponsors are giving me, for example, I now also have received support from UTEC. This helps me to prepare myself on a daily basis to achieve my goals”, said Heinrich.In turn, Alberto Bejarano, Academic Director at Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC), stated: “It is a pleasure for UTEC to sponsor a young motorcycling talent like Tato. We are committed to supporting Peruvian talent, and on this occasion it will be in the field of sports”.Among the most important championships Heinrich has entered are: Dakar 2012, where he placed 46th after abandoning the race due to mechanical failure. In the 2012 Dakar series at Iguazú, he achieved 28th place. At the Morocco Rally he placed 25th and in the Enduro Worlds of this year he finished 31st. Heinrich’s participation in the Morocco Rally served as training for this Dakar Rally. “The top pilots in the world also participated in Morocco. I learned a lot about navigation, which will be very useful to me in this championship race” he concluded.
