Students of the Colegio Mayor Secundario Presidente del Perú (President of Peru High School) receive full scholarships to study at UTEC

Full scholarships were awarded to 14 students who will pursue studies in academic programs in Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering and Industrial Chemical Engineering.Attending the award ceremony were the scholarship winners, university officials, high school officials and family members of the beneficiaries. In a moving ceremony, Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC) awarded 14 full academic scholarships to students of Colegio Mayor Secundario Presidente del Perú (CMSPP), in culmination of the "2014 UTEC Scholarship Contest” organized for this school. The ceremony was attended by officials from both academic institutions, the student scholarship winners and their family members. "Since our inception, at UTEC we set a goal and made a commitment to seek out the best talent in the country interested in engineering, so that students have an opportunity to attend a first rate university without restrictions as to one’s origin or economic status, and we are of the opinion that this is an excellent opportunity to fulfill this commitment, by way of the 14 full academic scholarships awarded ", stated Carlos Heeren, General Manager of Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC).In turn, Amparo Muguruza, Managing Director of the CMSPP, expressed her thanks to the University and urged the students to continue to take advantage of the opportunity being provided to them and to make a commitment to their country. "These scholarships have been granted because of your effort and dedication, capitalize on it.  For years, the high school has been on a continuous quest to improve the quality of academic education in the country;  for this purpose in addition to having talented students and teachers, we also have been establishing strategic partnerships such as the one we have today with this prestigious university” she said.Meanwhile, Alberto Bejarano, General Academic Director of UTEC, commented about the university’s educational approach beginning with its activity-based methodology that involves students doing project work starting in their very first year of college studies. "At UTEC we shape engineers who are going to transform the economic platform of our country and we doing it by living and breathing engineering every day, from day one. We channel and enhance the ingenuity of our students so they can develop practical solutions. Our goal is to form highly qualified and competitive professionals and as a result, all of our academic programs have been planned taking global trends and industry demands into account", he said.Following a rigorous academic assessment, 14 students from different regions of the country: Piura, Cajamarca, Pasco, Loreto, Provinces of the Lima Region, Ica and Ancash, among others were selected. The scholarship award winners will pursue studies in Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering and Industrial Chemical Engineering, all academic programs offered by UTEC.
