The launch of the AWS Educate Español and Research Grants Perú was held in UTEC’s main auditorium last April the 12. The event had the director of the Computer Science program, Ernesto Cuadros, as the master of ceremonies and the participation of students from many different majors who were able to interact directly with our main speakers, such as: Carlos Gonzáles Villegas, AWS Public Service Regional Manager (Amazon Web Services), and Hillary Foster, the leader of AWS Educate and Amazon Web services public sector World Education program for Latin America
As it is known, AWS EDUCATE is a global initiative supported by Amazon that provides students, teacher and institutions with the necessary resources for the acceleration of cloud related education projects. Since it was launched AWS Educate has been joined by hundreds of thousands of students, educators and over 1500 institutions around the world.
AWS Educate program has been translated to the Spanish language and it has therefore given a larger amount of participants the access to its tools, resources and free AWS promotional credit available for them to acquire knowledge and the necessary skills regarding cloud related computer technology.
AWS Educate’s four branches of work (Software Developer, Cloud Architect, Big Data Analysis and Operations and Assistance Engineer) has it’s content been recently translated as well as their videos subtitled for them to be available for both educators and students over 14 years of age.
Perú currently has 7 education institutions as well as over 100 students and teachers signed up for AWS Educate.
