UTEC presents the most high tech campus to be from Latin-America

​With three years of existence, the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC, by its name in Spanish) already has its own campus in the district of Barranco, in Lima Peru, which is considered one of the most modern ones in Latin-America, because of its infrastructure and its advanced technology. The investment for this venue went up to US$100 million."This is a dream come true. The new campus has been designed with all the modern equipment of higher education, in a cozy environment and equipped with advanced technology, in order to train the best engineers of Peru, and why not, from around the world. In UTEC we want to draw the attention of the most talented boys and girls from Peru, who want to learn engineering and technology, and I'm proud to say we are succeeding", said Eduardo Hochschild, founder of the University of Engineering and Technology (UTEC). Our educational model provides the best conditions of academic quality in technology and engineering, with systems and cutting-edge teaching methodologies that enable our professionals to have a solid training and a high competitive value, so they can become part of society in order to seek solutions to real problems."The new campus of the university has been built on a 15,000 m2 and has followed the architectonic design of the Grafton Architects firm, by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, both winners of the International Architecture Contest organized by UTEC."Together with UTEC we are developing the most high-tech university center of engineer from Latin America, with a campus that even before its construction won aSilver Lion at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale on 2012. The university has been design to be equipped with a high technology architecture and modern labs, meant to develop a "Silicon Barranco" in Peru, to support start-ups and to promote innovation", announced Carlos Heeren, UTEC's CEO.The event was attended by outstanding businessmen and several top representatives of major universities which have signed agreements with UTEC, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University, Purdue University, University of New Mexico, Colorado School of Mines, among others.An unusual campus for an unusual universityThe design of the campus in Barranco establishes an architectural milestone because it embodies the concepts of sustainability, integration with the location, modernity and respect for the environment; important features in today's buildings that allow changing the environment properly, in order to make it more efficient. The new campus lies between the Armendáriz slope, the Paseo de la República Expressway and the Reducto Avenue, and will be opening next March, in order to start the 2015 academic year.This first stage of the venue is about 7,000 m2 and has a very friendly atmosphere, in order for students to enjoy each of the spaces for an optimal university education. For that purpose, the building has ten floors consisting of classrooms, various academic and administrative areas, more than 30 laboratories and workshops, a large dining room, an auditorium-theater of 300 seats, as well as computer rooms and recreation areas for students. At the two lower ground floors you can find the parking places.
