UTEC students win a Canadian government scholarship

Elena Ezquerra (Energy Engineering), Giuliana Pareja (Industrial Engineering), Brenda Rojas (Mechanical Engineering), Danae Chipoco (Energy Engineering) and Ricardo González (Electronic Engineering) were winners of the 2018-2019 Emerging Scholarship Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) granted by the Government of Canada.

Through an intense application process, our students proposed to researchers of the University of Alberta various projects and research topics, which were accepted to be worked in conjunction in the laboratories of this renowned Canadian university.

"I'm sure this will be a very enriching experience", says Danae Chipoco, who will conduct research on energy equipment. Brenda Rojas will focus on Microgrids and Ricardo Gonzales on Biosensors. For her part, Giuliana Pareja will work at Transport-Rection Systems. "The program is a new challenge in my life and an important experience of learning and development as a researcher", says Elena Ezquerra, who will focus her work on hydrogen cells.

This program, which offers students from Latin America and the Caribbean short stay opportunities in Canadian universities to conduct studies or research, will have a high academic and personal impact on our students.
