Yesterday, Thursday November 6th, the finalists and winners of Lo Inimaginable Posible received their awards in an event at the MAC attended by officials of the Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) from Lima and family members of the scholars who participated in this grand event. Seen among them were the faces of excited students, proud parents and an atmosphere of ingenuity that engulfed everyone present, thus demonstrating that at UTEC we breathe creativity and engineering. The exhibit of works completed by the finalists will remain open to the public until Sunday, November 9th at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima, Av. Almirante Miguel Grau 1511, Barranco between the hours of 10.00 am and 6.00 pm.As one can recall, Lo inimaginable posible was organized to encourage high school students to develop their abilities in creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship; in addition to putting their ingenuity into action, seeking innovative solutions for the benefit of society and the environment, through the application of science and technology.Participating in this contest were high school students from the cities of Arequipa, Piura, Cajamarca, Trujillo, Lima, among others. The number of votes received from the public surpassed 10 thousand votes. In addition, in their preparation to exhibit their projects, the students met with industrial designers who helped them graphically reinterpret their project designs. "We have set out to demystify engineering and bring it closer to young people, and this is why the contest encourages the students to think about new systems or devices that create well-being and contribute to the sustainability of society. It is always revealing how students unleash their abilities to undertake action, innovate and create when they work in team and are accompanied by designers and engineers as mentors. These youth have identified real world problems and recommended real world decisions. Every solution begins with an idea that leads them to a series of drafts which after several revisions becomes a design. Getting an idea to be captured and become embodied in a design is a first successful step in the process that one follows in engineering, and transforming that design into a real product is the next challenge” said Alberto Bejerano, General Academic Director at Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC).In the sample the project designs can be seen as an integrated system of water reuse, a foot massager with electromagnetic waves, a microscope for telephones, among other concepts.
Carreras en ingeniería y tecnología que van de la mano con la investigación y la creación de soluciones tecnológicas de vanguardia, comprometidas con las necesidades sociales y la sostenibilidad.
