Giancarlo Patiño and Luis Sánchez have started an important project in cooperation with the AFRL, which has as its primary objective the communication between devices of the same satellite. Currently, this process is done through a series of input and output cables. The idea of the project initiated by these two geniuses is to reduce data transmission and decoding to a single cable line. It seeks to connect these pieces through a single line and build a virtual network to control this system. Today, if a problem occurs in one device, no one can travel up to the satellite and fix it. So, with their proposal, they will be able to solve this problem remotely. They used FPGAs to develop this system; i.e. non-resettable cards that can continue to be implemented through the use of a digital electronic code. This way they are able to integrate several different circuits.Initial contactThe key to ensuring AFRL’s cooperation was the intermediation of Victor Murry, UTEC Director of Electronic Engineering who worked in that laboratory when teaching in the United States. His idea was to search for a work team to continue such cooperation from Peru and he found it in these two hard working students. It is worth noting that the AFRL is the United States Air Force Research Laboratory. Project DurationCurrently they are working in the concept idea trial stage. Researchers already have the design of the device that receives and interprets the data. In December 2013 they submitted the project paper and it was accepted for oral presentation. Now they are preparing to initiate the implementation stage. XX IBERCHIP WorkshopThey already possess presentation experience before experts, since they did this at the XX IBERCHIP Workshop, one of the most important conferences in Latin America. And this year they attended the 6th IEEE Latin American Symposium on Circuits and Systems, an international fair that took place in Uruguay. The work completed forced them to become self-taught individuals, to work as a team.
