Future Engineers test their talent for the arts

The educational model of Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) takes into consideration the development of communication skills that contribute to develop a capacity for management and leadership. It is for this reason that, in order to achieve a well rounded education, the university curricula also include courses beyond the fields of science and technology, courses and workshops that promote talent in the arts. These courses count as mandatory course credits each semester, representing (1) credit and 30 (thirty) academic hours. To pass the course, students must attend classes and meet the requirements of the activities schedules during the course.The workshops are organized in coordination with the Museo de Arte Conteomporáneo MAC-Lima (Museum of Contemporary Art). Students may choose among the following: Visual ArtsPhotography WorkshopThe workshop includes a brief description of the history of photography from its appearance in the XIX century and the changes that emerged over time, to then begin discussion of the fundamentals and practice of photography. Performing Arts Public Speaking WorkshopPublic Speaking, also known as the “The art of speaking” is a fundamental skill needed by every professional. The course attempts to achieve the participant’s verbal fluency, but primarily to overcome the fear of speaking in public. DANCE Break Dance and Hip Hop Workshop B-Boying or break dance is an urban dance style that forms part of the hip hop culture, which emerged in Latin American and Afro American communities in the Bronx and Brooklyn neighborhoods during the early 1970’s. The workshop provides insight into hip hop cultural life style and its unique dance forms. In addition, it will be supplemented with B-Boying where students will learn the basic dance steps and their respective names. MUSICClassical GuitarA theory and practice based guitar course for students at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels. Students choose the workshop of their interest and enroll at the Office of Educational Services, with Ms. Verónica Lunga.
