Ignacio Montero gave a lecture at the V Symposium TICAR, mining and energy industry

UTEC’s Director of Business Innovation, Ignacio Montero, delivered a lecture about the objectives and goals of the Center for Excellence in Engineering and Sustainable Mining, of which he is the General Coordinator, within the framework of the V Symposium TICAR of the mining and energy industry.  Accompanied by distinguished panel members in jointly addressing the topic of “Innovation and competitiveness in the industry”, he clearly pointed out the importance of research that inspires knowledge and focuses on delivering solutions to the industry’s needs”.UTEC forms part of this important center together with other academic institutions, thus maintaining the pillars that have been part of its success:  active learning, support for research and entrepreneurship."The center emerged because of the increasing demand for high quality, independent and reliable research in mining and sustainability that produces practical data and results within the scope of study.  But this cannot be limited to the classrooms, it must generate short, medium and long term solutions.  It must produce research that innovates and creates new technological, social and environmental technologies” he said.In addition, Ignacio Montero stated that the Center’s primary purpose is to develop and strengthen the university-business relationship in order to achieve exponential results.  “i.e., identify the high impact innovation needs and design engineering solutions to increase competiveness and sustainability in productive industries”, he said. ContestOne important point regarding the Center was the invitation to the contest last February, an initiative on the part of CONCYTEC and which is currently in the final stage of proposal selection. 75% of the financing for the winning project that we should discover in October, will be funded by companies. Learn more at http://www.cienciactiva.gob.pe/ LINES OF RESEARCHMineral Processing and Metallurgical SystemsEnvironmental and health managementMining technologyClean and efficient energyTechnologies with social impact
