Juan Incháustegui receives 2012 “Palmas Magisteriales” award.

Yesterday, Juan Incháustegui, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC), received the “Palmas Magisteriales”, in the category of “Amauta”, the maximum award granted by the Republic of Peru to individuals who have contributed to the advancement of education, science, culture and/or technology.“Receiving this recognition is a tremendous honor. Supporting education as a development strategy is vital because the foundation of any country that looks to the future is the educational system. Investment in science, technology, and the educational structure is fundamental. For example, UTEC’s new engineering and technology concept will make it possible to shape creative engineers who are innovative in designing solutions with an understanding of business and sensitivity for social issues. Professionals in Peru must be ready for the future with all the latest tools of technology”, commented Incháustegui.Juan Incháustegui is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC), President of the Instituto Superior Tecnológico (TECSUP), President of Hochschild Mining Peru, Director and Consultant at Pacasmayo S.A.A; in addition, he holds the “Orden del Sol” Award (Peru’s highest distinction awarded to individuals in the fields of liberal arts, culture and politics).During the ceremony that took place in the Ceremonial Hall of the Ministry of Culture, National Museum, merit awards were also given to Julio Cotler, Elsa Fung, Rosario Valdeavellano, and María McLauchlan in the category of Amauta. The Master order of merit was awarded to Elizabeth Evans Risco; Fabián Rucano Páucar, Martín Manya Ambur, Carlos Munares Falconí, and Francisco Pauro Quilla; and the Educator merit award was given to Víctor Casa Huahuasoncco, Selmira Cruz Gómez, Daniel Quispe de la Torre, Gloria de los Ríos Orellana, and Doris Silva León.
