The famous French graffiti artist "Lazoo", a member of the French group "Hip Hop Citoyens" and an engineer by profession, carried out an artistic event on the exterior walls of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) in Barranco along with local graffiti artists, students from Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC) and high school students."Graffiti and Peruvian ingenuity" is the name of the live event that took place thanks to the Alliance Française of Lima and Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC), for the purpose of encouraging interest in art as a motor of creativity and innovation in future engineers."Lazoo", one of the most well-known street artists in the world, accompanies by local artists Jade, Session, Diaz, Faber, Rarok, Neat031, Entes and Pesimo, brought color to the outside walls of the MAC in Lima, using technology and innovation as their central theme and the design was linked to engineering."Intervening urban space with graffiti is a novel experience and a leading edge artistic form in the world. Lazoo’s presence highlighted this art form that is evolving significantly in Peru ", said Jessica Rúas, Director of Promotion at Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC). Meanwhile, "Lazoo" commented on the relationship he finds between his profession as an engineer and that of a graffiti artist. “As an engineering I believe science to be the foundation for everything and that science is inseparable from art. This may sound strange, but the truth is that art is a part of science, given that at times we don’t know how to improve things and out of this our creativity emerges to create, make decisions and think about solutions".Later, Rúas commented on the close relationship that exists between an engineer and a graffiti artist. “The academic formation of engineers should not be based solely upon their knowledge in their areas of science and technology but also on their involvement in artistic activities like this, which will enable them to develop their innovative talents and creative abilities that help them implement actual solutions to real life problems. At UTEC we seek to demystify the perception that exists of engineering and we use art to increase awareness and teach our future engineers that it is essential that they put their ingenuity into action” she said.About "Lazoo"Born in Paris, the graffiti artist and painter Lazoo, started producing pictorial images in 1986.
