Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) and Siemens, a global company dedicated to businesses in the electrification, automation and digitalization industries, recently announced that they had signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement to promote the cooperation, exchange and generation of spaces for technical and scientific development and research between their organizations.
Among other features, the agreement will enable UTEC students to conduct undergraduate and professional internships at Siemens. In addition, the agreement will have both organizations join forces to generate integrated scientific and technical solutions that resolve real world challenges. Moreover, it will enhance student academic development by allowing students to attend courses taught by Siemens Technik Akademie, the academic branch of the company known for its focus on technology based courses.
“We feel certain that this agreement will make a significant contribution to the academic education that our students have been receiving, as they will be able to conduct their internships at a world renowned company with broad experience in the fields of technology and engineering. Furthermore, it represents an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and to develop and disseminate scientific research programs and workshops geared toward the pursuit of comprehensive solutions, said Carlos Heeren, Executive Director of UTEC.
The ceremonial act, which took place at UTEC’s university campus, was attended by Edwin Chávez, the CEO of Siemens Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia; Carlos Heeren, Executive Director of UTEC; Enrique Stiglich, UTEC Director of Administration and Finance, and the several UTEC Academic Program Directors.
Siemens in Peru:
Siemens has a presence in our country that spans a period of over 100 years by way of its distributors and its involvement in the construction of hydroelectric power plants in Arequipa. Over the past century, the company has been a leading provider of solutions in the mining, medical and electric power. Siemens S.A.C. was founded in Lima in 1996, maintaining its leadership position as a strategic partner in large scale projects and those with a major impact on Peruvian society. It directs its solutions and services toward the market’s needs. In 2013, it opened its Service Center in Lurin, to strengthen its proximity to its customer base and to facilitate access to the resources needed to improve service response times. The Service Center is positioned as a base of operations for planning and implementing services to power plants responsible for the stability of the nation’s power supply. Electrification, automation and digitalization represent one part of the solutions that this company provides, personalizing each one of them to its customers’ needs.
