UTEC and the Centro Cultural Británico (British Cultural Center) opened an exhibit of the architectural models that participated in an international contest for the construction of the UTEC’s new university campus.Yesterday, Universidad de Ingeniería & Tecnología (UTEC) and the Centro Cultural Británico inaugurated an exhibit of 60 architectural concepts at the John Harriman Gallery in Miraflores, concepts which participated in the international contest for the construction of the university’s new campus in Barranco.At this exhibition, overseen by curator Patricia Ciriani, a scale model was submitted for the first time by the firm Grafton Architects and its architects Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, first place winners at the UTEC International Architecture Tender and whose design is regarded as the most modern University Campus in Latin America. Furthermore, this design won the Silver Lion Award at the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale, one of the foremost international exhibitions in the world of contemporary art.Forming part of this exhibit will be three discussion panels which will transmit their discussions live from this website. Moderator: Frederick Cooper Thursday, January 24th 7:30 pm What changes will there be for Barranco with UTEC? Guests: Jessica Vargas, Mayor of Barranco; Juan Incháustegui, UTEC Board Member, Álvaro Mena, UTEC Infrastructure Manager. Moderator: Patricia Ciriani ABOUT THE EXHIBIT The exhibit includes a selection of the blue prints and scale models submitted by the five finalist teams, together with a documentary created by Delia Ackerman about the origin of the competition and the conceptual proposals of each of the five teams. Some sixty national and international proposals were also on display among the books and magazines which reveal the global architectural trends of today.
