The World Engineering Education Forum (WEEF) was held in the city of Dubai between December 3 and 6. "Research Laboratories and Training Undergraduate Freshmen Students to Produce International Conference-level Publications" was presented by Víctor Murray, PhD, Director of Electronic Engineering and Cecilia Matsuno, Director of Management, Arts and Humanities, on December 5th, in a session entitled "Research in Engineering Pedagogy", among other works presented from the United States, Japan, Germany and India. This work, describes the new methods being implemented at Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) seeking to develop the research skills of students starting in freshman year. The presentation mainly discussed the case of two successful Electronic Engineering students who presented their work at the Ibero American conference on micro-electronics in Chile (February 2014) and who have just been accepted to present their new results at the international IEEE LASCAS conference to be held in Uruguay (February 2015).The students who participate in research groups led by PhD professors with international research and development experience, not only develop their abilities in technical areas, but in communication and leadership, etc. as well. This presentation generates an IEEE paper and represents the first official publication of the great results that are beginning to be obtained by UTEC with its teaching methods. In addition, Víctor Murray, PhD, chaired the session "New trends in graduate school education" presenting work associated with graduate level teaching in the USA, Brazil, Egypt, Slovakia and Pakistan. One of the papers during this session was one by Ramiro Jordan, PhD, Associate Chair, Director of ECE Undergraduate Program at the University of New Mexico UNM), and founder of the Ibero American Science and Technology Consortium (ISTEC), on the topic of "Global Innovation Network for Entrepreneurship and Technology (GINET)", a new perspective on shaping professionals that combines engineering with entrepreneurship.During the WEEF, the paper entitled "An Experience in the Use of the Jigsaw Technique to Teach Object-Oriented Design" by José Antonio Pow-Sang, was also presented.
Carreras en ingeniería y tecnología que van de la mano con la investigación y la creación de soluciones tecnológicas de vanguardia, comprometidas con las necesidades sociales y la sostenibilidad.
