UTEC students, the only Peruvians admitted to Stanford University’s innovation program

Four students of Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) will on the list of 169 students who were admitted to participate in the University Innovation Fellows program, run by Stanford University. This program empowers students to become true change agents and enables them to learn about tools and model programs to help them enhance innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity. 

Since its inception, this program has worked with approximately 800 students to strengthen the analytical capacity of youth, help them to identify new opportunities and to instill discipline and cooperation through interdisciplinary work activities. 

“We are proud of the fact that four of our students will be able to share valuable experiences with students from around the world, thus strengthening the holistic teaching approach practiced at UTEC.  We seek to shape world class professionals and this represents an opportunity for them to prepare themselves to undertake the challenges that lie ahead”, said Melanie Cornejo, UTEC Executive Academic Director. 

Danae Ariana Chipoco Haro, Hans Figueroa, Sebastián Hurtado and Álvaro Ludowieg Ríos are the only Peruvians who will take part in this experience together with students from the United States, India and the Netherlands.  They will participate in a 6-week online training program and then travel to the annual convention to meet with their fellow peers.  In addition, they will be invited to events and conferences with leaders from Stanford and the industry. 

During this program, the students put the key elements learned at UTEC into practice, such as applying real solutions to actual problems, actions that go hand in hand with the teachings provided by this global program.  In this way, they will be able to replicate this knowledge with their peers and create social impact.
