What is the short term program that you are participating in?
CZ: The short term program is an Internship Program of Innovation Funding by Chinese National Grid.
Why did you choose to come to UTEC, Peru? In which universities could have you been?
CZ: UTEC is a youthful University, full of innovation and dreams. Besides, the research content of Professor Zhang is corresponding to mine. I could have been to Università degli studi di Napoli Federico II in Italy.
YL: I choose to come to UTEC because of the similar research interests, such as the modeling and simulation of power system. Futhermore, the education mechanism of UTEC also attracts me. The university I could have been was University of Naples Federico II, Italy.
What is your field of study and your R&D project?
CZ: My field of study are arc plasma discharge, plasma diagnostic and plasma sound
YL: My study field includes the analysis and control of hybrid AC-DC system, and modeling and simulation of power system. My R&D project is "Theory and Technology of Stability Control for Hybrid AC-DC Grids".
What did you do at UTEC and what did you like?
CZ: I made a presentation in a seminar in UTEC, the topic of which was “Acoustic Wave Generated by the Thermal Plasma”. Besides I did an experiment for measuring the parameters of electric pulse for liquid food processing. In addition, I´ve learn about the organization, management and educational methodology of UTEC. Furthermore, I visited a cooper mine, Chinalco. We visited the control center of the power system and substations of Chinalco.
YL: My work in UTEC included four parts. First, the acknowledgement of the campus culture and the education ideas of UTEC. Second, the academic communication with professors and students about the modeling and simulation of LCC-HVDC and MMC-HVDC system. Third, visiting the Chinalco mine, which is the world’s highest copper mine, and lastgiving a presentation about my research work. The life at UTEC is so different from the one in China. I gained knowledge and experience. I really appreciate for this opportunity to come to UTEC.
