Tsinghua University visit

During the week between Sep 1 and 8, Tsinghua university student representative’s team including one PhD Student, one master student, and on undergraduate student from Electrical Engineering Department had been paid a visit to our university and energy engineering department especially and had been provided a warm reception by Dr. Melaine Conejo, the academic director of UTEC, Dr. Julien Noel, director of energy engineering department on Tuesday.  

They firstly visited the Internationalization office to know about the collaboration relationship between UTEC and other international university and our internationalization strategy with director Ms. Patricia Cespedes and Ms. Daniela Beltran and also were showed a tour around our award-winning building complex and different sectors like UTEC Venture, UTEC Garage and Mr. Brain O. Hara and Mr. Miguel explained the curriculum and teaching methodology. They are impressed by the platform university provide to our student to encourage their innovation spirit.  

Then Dr.Victor Murray and Dr. Jorge Abad introduced the research committee to the guest and explained the research topics we are now conducting at UTEC and expressed that it is important that our university enlarge international exchange opportunities and understand forefront of the subject. Later on Thursday Tsinghua researchers and Energy Engineering department had co-presented the academic seminar on the topic of Electrical Power Engineering topics to the faculty, students and engineers. The seminar was fruitful for both parties to broaden the horizons of counter-party’s research topic and status quo, which brings the opportunity for further collaboration. On Thursday Mr. Liu Haibin and Mr. Patrao Paulo, the CEOs of Hydro Global Peru also held a meeting with Dr. Lei Zhang and Tsinghua visitor team to explain the history and status quo of development of generation, transmission and distribution and market in Peru. The views on the possible cooperation topics between UTEC, Tsinghua and Hydro Global Peru has been deeply exchanged and discussed

Through this one week of the visit by the Tsinghua university student representative’s team, both counter parties find that we should promote varieties of forms and method to deepen our understanding of each other and support the students to develop their intercultural skills and prepare them for global-wise engineer.
