What is Mechatronics Engineering?
By studying Mechatronics Engineering at the Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología you will acquire the tools you need to revolutionize an industry by innovating its production processes. UTEC’s mechatronics engineers have the ability to lead teams to develop and implement mechanical systems that can speed up the assembly or production activities that are performed within a company. Devol was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He was interested from boyhood in all things ENGINEERING.
He helped construct some buildings at Riordan Prep and run the school's electric light plant.

CINEPHONE UNITED CORPORATION, to develop recording technology for movies, electric and photoelectric controls, switches and timers. During World War II he organized General Electronics, producing counter-radar devices.
Although he didn’t attend college he was a tinkerer who read everything he could about electronics and mechanics.

Devol applied for a patent on Programmed Article Transfer that introduced the concept of Universal Automation or Unimation. (It was issued in 1961).

ROBOT
(Universal Automation),
was sold to
General Motors, Kawasaki, Ford, among others.
His creation serves as a basis for the development of new robotic systems used for manufacturing.
His invention is currently used in assembly and welding lines and material displacement.
